Built in 1973, the bandstand is a replica of one built in 1906 that stood on the southwest corner of the Jefferson County Courthouse square in Oskaloosa.  That one was destroyed in 1960 by a tornado, which also severely damaged the courthouse. Bands once played in the original bandstand every week during the summer and live music is performed from this replica during special events.  The bandstand also makes a special setting for weddings and is a favorite backdrop for photographers.
